It’s possible that the locations you walk to or around in the Spring does not differ significantly from those in the Winter, but what you do while walking may. These are a few locations we like to visit with the dogs during our springtime dog walks:
The Park
Taking your dog to the park for daily exercise is always a great idea. Particularly in parks with room to run around and burn off some energy. Your dog walk in the park might involve a game of fetch due to the milder weather and hopefully the occasional sunny period. Take your dog’s favorite ball the next time you go for a walk, and see if you can incorporate a fun game to change things up.
The Woods
Dogs enjoy strolls through the woods. Your dog usually won’t encounter a wide variety of sights, sounds, and smells on a typical day, but they definitely will in the woods. Spring is the ideal season to venture outside and explore, particularly if there is nearby woodland or you can reach a wooded location with ease.
The Beach
The beach is another setting that our canine friends adore; it provides a space for them to run and, if they enjoy the water, a place to take a refreshing dip. Be mindful of the beach you’re going to and confirm if you’re permitted to go there because many beaches will ban dogs throughout the summer months. There are numerous beaches around Kelowna that accept dogs, the challenge is to choose the right one for you! Don’t forget to bring some toys and your dog’s drying towel in case they decide to go for a swim. Just like on any other dog walk, keep an eye out for bystanders and only let your dog off the leash when it’s appropriate.
The Countryside
If you reside in a rural area, taking a walk through it with your dog might be a fun adventure. The environment around us is undergoing a lot of change right now, and your dog will enjoy taking in the fresh scents and hues that appear. Just be sure to follow the laws of the land, such as staying on public footpaths and keep the dog on a lead when around livestock.
